When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings,
name them one by one, Count your blessings,
see what God hath done! Count your blessings,
name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

Count your blessings,
name them one by one, Count your blessings,
see what God hath done! Count your blessings,
name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings.
Wealth can never buy your reward in heaven,
nor your home on high.

Count your blessings,
name them one by one, Count your blessings,
see what God hath done! Count your blessings,
name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

"When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet at last, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?"
"What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?"
"I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully.
"It's the same thing," he said.

Really isn't it? The same thing I mean... What's for breakfast, what's going to happen thats exciting? Because there is so much that really is exciting in the everyday things that happen in our lives. And so much to be grateful for that we tend to take for granted...

Like, have you thought about these things being on a gratitude list?

  1. Water coming through pipes when I turn a faucet
  2. Lights coming on when I flip a switch
  3. My favorite music coming out the radio when I turn the dial
  4. The car starting when I turn the key

  6. The phone ringing with my brother caling from 500 miles away but sounding like he is right here with me

  8. Having the choice of millions of books to read without censorship
  9. Being able to attend the church of my choice without fear of government interference
  10. Owning a computer with internet access

Lets Get Started

Welcome to my Gratitude List!

A couple of years ago, in the middle of depression, I was asked to think of 100 things I am thankful or grateful for. 100? Yup 100... Can you think of 100 things you are grateful for? I have kept up with the gratitude list ever since then. Usually just a couple of things before bed and then again a couple of things when I wake up.

But as I sat this morning, I realized that I have fallen out of the habit of writing them down. The spoken or written word has so much more power than just thought. And so I decided, it is time to write them down.

My goal is to do a daily list of 10 things. I know that I am busy and often am easily distracted so I may not be as good at this at first as I would like to be. I am hoping that if I make it part of my morning devotions that it will come easier.

Join me on my journey... and take a minute to think... what are you grateful for today?
